Scanning and unsaved readings are free. Save up to 500,000 metrics each month at no charge. Charges apply only after you save more than 500,000 that month.
Each saved PID reading counts as one metric. Saving 10 PIDs once counts as 10 metrics; saving them again adds another 10.
The allowance resets each month. Requires a compatible OBD2 adapter and supported vehicle.
You’re in control of extra usage. Add a card and enable billing when you need more. Otherwise, additional uploads and saving OBD2 recordings pause at the free limits. Scanning stays free, and your existing records stay available.

Each band applies only to the bytes within that band. With usage billing enabled, the $1 fee is charged upfront once per monthly UTC cycle: at the start if stored files exceed 50 MB, or when they first exceed 50 MB. The fee is not prorated or charged again at cycle end. Only the GB/month usage charge on all stored bytes is prorated for time above 50 MB and billed at cycle end. MB = 1,000,000 bytes; billing GB = 1,073,741,824 bytes. Invoice amounts round to cents.
OBD2 scanning and readings you do not save do not count toward usage. Each saved reading of an individual PID counts as one metric; a recording containing multiple PID readings counts each one separately.
Save up to 500,000 metrics per month for free. Above that threshold, the full month’s saved-metric count is billed at $1 per million: 500,001 saved metrics costs $0.50.
The saved-metric count resets each UTC calendar month. Existing recordings do not count again toward the new month, and deleting a recording does not reduce usage already accrued. Occupied file storage does not reset.
What do I get for free?
Everything. We believe that once you’ve bought something, you should have the tools to maintain it, without more paywalls. That’s why we created GearOS: a full suite of free tools covering the entire asset and maintenance lifecycle. You only pay for enhanced storage and optional convenience. No credit card required.
When would I pay anything?
You pay for enhanced storage and optional convenience: more room for your files, saving more than 500,000 OBD2 metrics in a month, or help from Gizmo to simplify your workflow. Storage and saved metrics are billed by usage when you enable them; Gizmo uses prepaid GearOS Credit. At the free limits, additional uploads and saving OBD2 recordings pause. Scanning stays free, and your existing records remain available.
How does storage pricing work?
Storage that stays at 50 MB or less throughout the cycle is free. With usage billing enabled, a $1 fee is charged upfront once per monthly UTC cycle: at the start if stored files already exceed 50 MB, or when they first exceed 50 MB. The $1 fee is not prorated. Only graduated storage usage, starting at $0.25 per GB/month, is prorated for time above 50 MB and billed at cycle end. For example, 1 GB stored for a full cycle costs $1.25 in total. How are OBD2 recordings counted?
Scanning and unsaved readings are free. You can save up to 500,000 metrics each month at no charge; charges apply only after you save more than that. How long do my records stay available?
Your account includes one year of OBD2 telemetry and monitoring measurements. That one-year limit does not apply to maintenance and service records. Keep the work you have logged together with the asset it belongs to.
Can I track more than vehicles?
Yes. Add motorcycles, trailers, tools, appliances, equipment, aircraft, or custom assets. Start with your daily driver, the mower in the shed, or whatever you maintain most.
Do I need to download an app?
Start in your browser, including on your phone. iOS and Android apps are also available. Use the same account across devices. Vehicle readings require a compatible OBD2 adapter and a supported vehicle.
Who can see or edit my garage?
You control garage membership and roles. Invitations start with viewing access; the garage captain can give an accepted member editing access. Sharing and collaboration are included free.
