#Task Details

The Task Details page is where you view and manage one maintenance task: what to do, when it’s due, who it’s assigned to, what parts/docs are involved, and (when enabled) the full activity and verification trail.

#How to get here

#Page layout (what you’ll see)

Task Details adapts based on plan/features, but commonly includes sections like:

  • Details (title, description, notes, priority, status, assignee)
  • Schedule (due date + repeating schedule)
  • References (documents, template procedures, linked info)
  • Activity (history)
  • Verification (attestations/evidence, when enabled)

If you see a tab/section selector, use it to switch between these views.

#Editing and saving (important)

Task Details may save some changes automatically, but text fields often require an explicit save.

Look for:

  • An Unsaved changes banner, and/or
  • A floating Save button

If you navigate away without saving, your changes may be lost.

#Primary interactive features

#Details (core task info)

Typical fields/actions include:

  • Title and description
  • Priority (what should be done first)
  • Status (which lane it appears in on the board)
  • Assignee (who owns the work)
  • Due date (when it should be done)
  • Notes (what you saw, what you did, reminders)

#Quick tip: keep the title actionable

Good: “Change oil + filter”
Better: “Change oil + filter (5W‑30, 6qt)”

#Update status, priority, assignee

If you have permission (captain/member), you can usually:

  • Change the task status (what lane it appears in)
  • Change priority
  • Assign it to a person (when available)

If you’re a viewer, these controls may be disabled.

#Schedule (due dates + recurring)

In the Schedule section/tab you can:

  • Set or change the due date
  • Enable or edit repeating schedules (recurring tasks)
  • Review schedule summaries (for example, what will happen next)

If schedule editing is disabled, it typically means you don’t have permission or the feature is not enabled for your subscription.

#Due date and recurring schedule

In the Schedule section/tab you can:

  • Set or change a due date
  • Enable repeating schedules (recurring tasks)
  • Review the next scheduled occurrence timing (when available)

#Notes and instructions

Use the Details section to capture:

  • Work description
  • Notes/observations
  • Guidance/procedure content (depending on configuration)

#References (documents, templates, supporting info)

#Documents

Tasks can have supporting documents (photos, PDFs, receipts, manuals).

Common actions:

  • Attach an existing document from the explorer
  • Upload a new document/photo
  • Open a document to view/download it

See: Documents

#Templates and procedures (when enabled)

If the task is template-backed, you may be able to:

  • View the template procedure steps
  • Rate the template after completion (when enabled)

See:

#Parts (when enabled)

If the Parts workflow is enabled, you can:

  • Search and add parts needed for the job
  • Track packaging/quantities/serials (as supported)
  • Mark parts as bought/used/stashed (depending on the screen)

#Assistant guide (when enabled)

Some tasks can use the MaintenanceFreak Assistant to generate a step-by-step guide.

You may see:

  • A disclaimer acknowledging AI-generated guidance
  • A guide preview and “open full screen” option
  • Rating/feedback controls

See: Assistant Guide

#Activity (history) (when enabled)

The Activity section/tab shows task history such as:

  • Status changes
  • Schedule changes
  • Attachments and updates

This is useful when collaborating so everyone understands what changed and why.

#Inspections

If the task is an inspection, you may be able to open an inspection runner to execute the checklist and attach evidence.

See: Inspection Run

#Verification (when enabled)

Verification is used for sign-offs and evidence trails. When enabled, you may see:

  • Attestation entries
  • Evidence previews
  • Verification checklists

#Archive / restore (when enabled)

Archiving is used to move completed/old tasks out of the active board.

  • Archived tasks are typically viewable but may not be completable or editable in the same way.

#Tips

  • If an action is disabled, confirm your role in the garage (viewer vs member/captain).
  • Dates and times display in your local timezone.

#Platform behavior

#iOS

  • The workflow and labels on iOS follow this page as written.
  • Controls (pickers, sheets, and permissions dialogs) use native iOS presentation.

#Android

  • The workflow and labels on Android follow this page as written.
  • Controls (pickers, sheets, and permissions dialogs) use native Android presentation.

#Web

  • Task detail workflows are accessed from /maintenance.
  • Web opens task detail in maintenance-driven panels/modals instead of a standalone task-detail route.
  • Use maintenance board actions for edit/schedule/reference/activity operations.
