#Vehicles & Gear

The Vehicles & Gear page is where you browse everything assigned to your garages. It’s optimized for quick scanning, quick updates (odometer/fluids/tires/expenses), and jumping into details.

Depending on your account vocabulary, this tab may be labeled Vehicles or Gear—the content and actions are the same.

#How to get here

  • Tap the Vehicles/Gear tab (car icon) in the bottom navigation.
  • From Garages, you can long-press a garage card to jump here scoped to that garage.

#What you see on this page

#1) Search (top of page)

Use the search bar to find an item by name/nickname and other identifying info.

  • Where it is: Top of the page.
  • Clear search: Tap the X inside the search bar.

Tap the Filters icon to open the filter sheet.

#Filter sheet: “Filter by garage” + “Sort by”

  • Filter by garage
    • All (shows items across all garages)
    • A specific garage (shows items assigned to just that garage)
  • Sort by
    • Name
    • Year
    • Most recent updates
    • Most overdue tasks

#3) Unassigned warning (only when needed)

If the app finds vehicles or gear that are not assigned to any garage, you’ll see a warning card near the top.

Why this matters:

  • Consumer maintenance tasks are scoped to garages.
  • Unassigned items must be assigned before you can create tasks for them.

To fix it:

  1. Tap Assign
  2. Choose a garage you can edit (captain/member)
  3. Confirm

#4) Vehicles section

Shows vehicles (cars/aircraft/watercraft), with:

  • Expand/collapse control
  • Empty states that guide you to assign or add items

If you’re filtering to a specific garage and you’re the captain, you may see Assign vehicle when the garage has none.

#5) Gear / Standard assets section

Shows non-vehicle items (appliances/equipment/etc), with:

  • Expand/collapse control
  • An “Add gear / Add asset” call-to-action for captains when empty

#Primary actions (how to use this page)

#Open details for an item

Tap an item card to open:

#Quick actions (long-press an item card)

Long-press an item card to open Quick Actions.

Common quick actions include:

  • Update odometer (vehicles only)
  • Log service / expense
  • Log fluid levels (vehicles only)
  • Log tire pressures (vehicles only)
  • Add task

See: Quick Updates

#Add a new vehicle or gear item

If you have permission (captain/member in at least one garage), you’ll see a + button.

  1. Tap +
  2. Choose:
    • Add vehicle (cars, aircraft, watercraft)
    • Add gear / Add asset (appliances, equipment, etc)
  3. Complete the form and save

See: Add Asset

#Remove a vehicle from a garage (unassign)

When you’re scoped to a specific garage (not “All”) and you have permission, some vehicle cards show a Remove from garage icon (link-off).

  • Use this to unassign a vehicle from that garage.
  • If you need to move it to another garage, unassign it here and then reassign it elsewhere (or change the assignment from the asset itself).
